Does the share of partners from Widening countries affect the success of Twinning project proposals?

Project managers and applicants ask this question increasingly often. In our analysis of more than 1,300 Twinning proposals from the 2021 and 2023 Horizon Europe calls, we examine this issue using a binary logistic regression model.

We assess not only the share of Widening partners, but also consortium size, sectoral composition and the requested contribution—structural factors that may be associated with the odds of proposal funding.
