Looking for a Horizon Europe 2027 partner? University of Waterloo is open to collaboration

Are you preparing a proposal for a Horizon Europe 2027 call and looking for a strong international partner? The University of Waterloo (Canada) is interested in joining European consortia and developing new collaborations with Czech universities, research organisations, companies and other R&I stakeholders.

Canada has been associated with Pillar II of Horizon Europe since July 2024. Canadian institutions can participate in Pillar II projects, join consortia, lead work packages and access Horizon Europe funding.

The University of Waterloo is a leading Canadian research university with a strong focus on innovation, industry collaboration and research commercialisation. Its research capacity includes more than 700 laboratories and over 30 interdisciplinary research centres and institutes.

Waterloo's expertise is relevant to all six Horizon Europe Pillar II clusters. Key areas include:

• Quantum technologies – computing, sensing, communications and cybersecurity;
• Artificial intelligence and digital innovation – AI, machine learning, software and data science;
• Sustainability and climate solutions – clean energy, water and circular economy;
• Health innovation – digital health, biomedical engineering and health technologies;
• Entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialisation;
• Social sciences and humanities – particularly digital society and governance.

The University of Waterloo is interested in concrete opportunities to join proposals currently being developed for Horizon Europe 2027 calls. It can bring research excellence, strong industry links, and extensive innovation and commercialisation expertise to European consortia.
