REGIOSTARS 2026 Awards– Apply now!

25/02/2026

The European Commission has launched the 2026 REGIOSTARS competition for top EU Cohesion Policy projects. Beneficiaries of cohesion funding can apply online for the awards in five categories: “A Competitive and Smart Europe”, “A Green Europe”, “A Connected Europe”, “A Social and Inclusive Europe” and “A Europe Closer to the Citizens”. A Public Choice Award will also go to the finalist receiving the highest number of votes from the public. The deadline for applications is Friday 22 May 2026.

The REGIOSTARS Awards, organized annually by DG REGIO since 2008, celebrate outstanding EU-funded projects driving regional development. Over the years, they have become Europe’s label of excellence for initiatives that deliver lasting impact and promote inclusion.

A jury of high-level academics will evaluate submitted project applications and select winners in each category during the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels, in October 2026. The public will also vote online to choose their favourite project from 25 finalists. Winners will be announced at the REGIOSTARS ceremony and receive a mini-promotion campaign for their project.

Applications must be submitted via the EU Survey REGIOSTARS application form, otherwise they will not be eligible. Applications are accepted in all official EU languages.
