Ekaterina Zacharieva Assumes the Role of EU Commissioner for Research and Innovation

On December 1, 2024, Ekaterina Zacharieva assumed the position of European Commissioner for Startups, Research, and Innovation. The former Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs is now responsible for the research and innovation agenda within the European Union, including the Horizon Europe program. Among her main tasks are implementing recommendations aimed at strengthening European competitiveness on a global scale and supporting startups.
