Science with and for society in Horizon 2020 - report

DG RTD publication from July 2020 with a subtitle “Achievements and recommendations for Horizon Europe” maps on 129 pages the part of Framework Programme H2020 dedicated to Science with and for Society (SwafS) and its project portfolio results. Among the most important conclusions are the following:

• inclusiveness on all levels underpins SwafS;
• science education for all is needed;
• gender equality in organisation and ethics and integrity embedded in research is needed;
• ensure communication we can trust and open science;
• ultimately place citizens at the core to ensure excellent R&I to tackle the challenges of today for a better future.

The report states that Europe can only thrive by matching the immense potential of science with the values, needs, and aspirations of society. Horizon Europe must strengthen efforts to tap into the vast potential citizens have to offer and ensure effective cooperation between science and society. The report is attached or available here.
