New EIT strategy for EU Outermost regions

05/04/2024

On 27 February 2024, The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has announced it will increase its efforts to boost innovation capacity in EU outermost regions: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Réunion, Martinique, Mayotte and Saint-Martin (France), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal), and the Canary Islands (Spain). The plan is part of the EIT Regional innovation scheme (RIS) which was launched in 2014 and expanded in 2021. The EIT plans to help EU Outermost regions to strengthen their technology transfer capacity, and come up with a tailored fundraising programme for start-ups in need of financing.
