The European Commission has adopted the ERC Work Programme for 2023.

The third ERC Work Programme in Horizon Europe introduces several important novelties. Eligibility of applicants will be assessed from the date of successful defence of their PhD degree, not from the award date. Two new grounds for extending the eligibility window for Staring and Consolidator grant applicants have been established. Extension can be sought also due to natural disasters and seeking asylum.

In addition, the ERC Work Programme 2023 foresees a special grant call to support 3-5 month stays of journalists at research institutions facilitating better understanding of frontier research in society.

The ERC Work Programme 2023 as well as a tentative calendar of upcoming ERC calls can be found on the ERC website.
