EUA meets Commissioner Zaharieva to discuss research

On Tuesday 13 May, the European University Association’s President, Josep M. Garrell, and Secretary General, Amanda Crowfoot, met with Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation. The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange views on strategic issues that will shape the next phase of EU R&I funding and the evolution of the European Research Area.

Topics discussed: 

• central role of universities in delivering on Europe’s R&I ambitions and competitiveness agenda.
• preparations for the next EU R&I Framework Programme (FP10)
• strengthening cooperation between academia and industry

As the voice of Europe’s universities, EUA stands ready to support the European Commission in shaping the EU R&I policy agenda also by representing Universities and Higher Education Insitutions as Stakeholder Organisation in the ERA Forum.
