‘Hop on Facility’ of the Horizon Europe Widening participation and strengthening the ERA Programme for 2022 has budget of 40 million euro and contributes to achieving the inclusiveness ambition of the future ERA policy by involving research institutions from Widening countries in Horizon Europe Pillar 2 actions. The widening countries in Horizon Europe are 13 new member states, Greece and Portugal, and EU outermost regions. The Hop-on call allows accession of one additinal partner from a widening country to the consortium without a partner from widening country.
The Hop On Facility is open to all topics under Pillar 2. Applications with activities that contribute to the policy objective of the transition towards a green and digital economy are especially encouraged.
This action will have two deadlines in 2022, one in April and a second one in October. The Commission expects a higher subscription rate in the autumn as the number of Horizon Europe grant agreements take off. The further deployment of this facility will be considered then in light of the first year’s experience.
Expected EU contribution per project is 0,20-0,50 million €. Number of projects expected to be funded is 80.
