20/03/2026
A total of 284 project proposals were submitted to the European Excellence Initiative (EEI) 2025 call, of which 276 were evaluated. Sixteen projects were selected for funding. The highest number of projects (four) was awarded to Greece, followed by Croatia and Turkey (two projects each). Eight countries received one project each: Ukraine, Poland, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Portugal, Armenia, and Bulgaria.
Unfortunately, Czechia did not secure any projects as a coordinator, but it participates as a partner in five projects. Three of these projects will be implemented at Masaryk University in Brno, the remaining two projects at Prague University of Economics and Business and Brno University of Technology.
The EEI is an instrument aimed at building capacities to strengthen networks of higher education institutions and their cooperation with surrounding ecosystems. The EU contribution per project ranges between €2 million and €5 million. Successful applicants will now be invited to sign the grant agreement.
