New EC document: GEPs – How to be ready for ex-post checks

The European Commission has published the document Gender Equality Plans (GEPs): How to be ready for ex-post checks.

What is the purpose of the document?
The document clarifies the requirements for a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) under the Horizon Europe programme and helps organisations meet the GEP eligibility criterion.

Why was it updated?
Based on pilot compliance checks and stakeholder consultations, the European Commission refined the wording of the criterion to ensure legal clarity and practical applicability while maintaining high standards in the area of gender equality.

Who do the changes apply to?
The changes apply retroactively to grants awarded under calls with deadlines from 2022 onwards.
