Big interest in Gender Equality Champions prize 2025

16/07/2025

EC has received 29 proposals from research organisations eager to become the next Gender Equality Champions. Half of the submissions fall under the ‘Newcomers’ category, showcasing recent progress in implementing a first Gender Equality Plan. This reflects growing momentum toward a more inclusive research and innovation landscape. The applicant pool is also geographically diverse, with submissions from 13 EU and Associated Countries. Applicants are not only competing for a €100,000 award, but also for the prestigious opportunity to join the group of 11 champions awarded since 2022, who are driving change in research and innovation.

The proposals will be carefully evaluated by independent experts. The winners are expected to be announced at the beginning of March 2026.
