Creative Europe

Creative Europe is the European Commission's framework programme for support to the culture and audiovisual sectors. The new programming period 2021–2027 with €2.44 billion puts stronger emphasis on transnational creation, innovation, mobility for artists and professionals as well as actions targeting sector-specific needs. The 2 main objectives of Creative Europe are to:

  • safeguard, develop and promote European cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage
  • increase the competitiveness and economic potential of the cultural and creative sectors, in particular the audio-visual sector

Three strands of Creative Europe Programme are:

  • CULTURE sub-programme for culture initiatives, such as those promoting cross-border cooperation, platforms, networking, and literary translation.
  • MEDIA sub-programme for audiovisual sector initiatives, such as those promoting the development, distribution, or access to audiovisual works.
  • Cross-sectoral strand includes a Guarantee Facility and transnational policy cooperation.
